The charming and powerful ska band from Kuala Lumpur, Gerhana Skacinta, has released a special new work. The fresh LP with 11 tracks titled “Hitam Putih Kuala Lumpur” has been available since June 15, 2024, and can now be enjoyed on various DSPs.

Gerhana Skacinta, formed in the late 1990s from Kuala Lumpur's ska revival scene, has a rich history. The name "Gerhana" means "eclipse," "Ska" refers to the music genre, and "Cinta" means "love," reflecting their deep affection for ska music and their dedication to maintaining its traditional sound.

The arrangements for the new album were directed by frontman Edy J. Herwan, with lyrics written by Hanim Fauzi. Gerhana Skacinta's music is heavily influenced by legendary ska and reggae bands such as The Skatalites and The Wailers. Their commitment to live performances and authentic sound has earned them a strong presence both domestically and internationally.
Notable tracks like "Senyuman Ragamu" and "Sayang" showcase their musical style and are essential listens to understand the band's essence.

Gerhana Skacintaは1990年代後半にクアラルンプールのスカリバイバルシーンから誕生したバンドで、その歴史は豊か。「Gerhana」は「日食」、「Ska」は音楽ジャンル、「Cinta」は「愛」を意味し、彼らのスカ音楽への深い愛情と伝統的なサウンドを保ち続ける姿勢を反映している。
