On January 4, 2025, the much-anticipated concert "Intimate" is set to take place once again at Plantation Cove in Ocho Rios, marking its return after two years. The press conference for this special event was held at the ROK Hotel in downtown Kingston, and it attracted not only Jamaican media but also international outlets, including the BBC Radio from the UK, as well as representatives from Canada and other parts of the world. Among the attendees were the concert’s featured artists Marcia Griffiths and Nadine Sutherland, as well as friends of the headliners like Assassin, Bugle, Ras Shilo, General B, and Nitty Kuttie.
Buju Banton took the stage and began by reflecting, “Since my school days in Denham Town, I was always thinking about how to break into the music business.” He shared stories from his journey, including the time Winston Riley took him to Dynamic Studio, narrating his growth from a young man into a recognized artist and a dedicated member of the music industry.
Buju emphasized that this show embodies the values of reggae and urged fans, both local and international, to participate in this unique experience. “Music truly saves the people of Jamaica. I want the next generation to understand that music can lift people from poverty, educate, and unite them, ensuring that hardship does not last. Together, we can build a better Jamaica. Live your life, speak your truth, and stay true to your beliefs—that’s how you make your country a better place,” he passionately expressed.
Beres Hammond added in his own style, “After experiencing the last show, it was even better than I expected! Make sure you all come!” The lineup also features Wayne Wonder and Romain Virgo.
This year, improvements have been made to ease traffic congestion for those traveling to the venue, with an express bus service set to run.
If you’re in Jamaica, don’t miss this incredible show! I wholeheartedly recommend it because, at the end of the last "Intimate" concert held on January 1, I knew, even at the start of the new year, that no other event would top it. And looking back at the year’s end, "Intimate" was truly the best show of the year!
