A powerful gathering of roots, dub, and global sound system culture in the heart of Goa. 🌴🎶
Reggae in India? Yes — and growing. From early pioneers to a new generation of sound systems, a powerful culture is rising, blending Jamaican roots, UK influence, and Indian spirituality.
The spread of reggae in India resonates deeply with the country’s spiritual traditions.
Flowing from Jamaica to India, reggae carries messages of peace, spirituality, community, and freedom—values that align naturally with India’s long-standing spiritual culture.
Goa, in particular, has played a crucial role in this cultural exchange.
From the 1960s to the 1970s, hippies from around the world gathered here in search of freedom, forming communities centered around music and spirituality.
Within this context, reggae and dub music gradually took root.
Deep bass, conscious energy, and connection through vibration.

In 2009, Reggae Rajahs became the first to form a reggae crew collective, paving the way for a whole new generation of Jamican music from Dancehall to sound system culture in India. From handcrafted builds to conscious selections, India’s sound systems are creating a powerful new cultural movement.
